Presidente da OpenAI pede licença para viver período sabático

Greg Brockman, presidente da OpenAI e um dos 11 cofundadores da empresa de inteligência artificial (IA), anunciou uma licença para vivenciar um período sabático. Outro cofundador e líder importante da startup, John Schulman, se demitiu e migrou para a rival Anthropic , fundada por ex-pesquisadores da OpenAI. Além disso, Peter Deng, líder de produtos que se juntou à empresa no ano passado, também deixou a OpenAI, segundo o The Information.
As saídas parecem ser independentes entre si, mas mostram que a liderança da empresa ainda não se estabilizou após a demissão e recontratação do CEO Sam Altman em novembro.
Brockman, que agora deve descansar e ficar afastado do intenso setor de IA, teve um papel importante nas últimas mudandas vividas pela OpenAI. Ele ajudou a transformar as descobertas dos pesquisadores em modelos de IA em larga escala e produtos como o ChatGPT.
Ele também foi um aliado importante de Altman, incluindo durante a luta de Altman para retornar à empresa. Brockman disse à equipe que planejava voltar após suas férias prolongadas. Na noite de segunda-feira, 5, no entanto, ele anunciou no X que estaria ausente até o final do ano.
Schulman liderava um processo conhecido como post-training, quando a empresa refina os grandes modelos de linguagem que alimentam o ChatGPT e outros produtos. Recentemente, ele assumiu os remanescentes de uma equipe de segurança conhecida como superalignment, focada em prevenir que a IA cause danos sociais.
Outras mudanças na OpenAI
Recentemente, a OpenAI realocou outro líder de segurança, Aleksander Madry, para outra função. O cofundador Ilya Sutskever, responsável por algumas das maiores descobertas da empresa, deixou a OpenAI para formar uma startup rival.
Outro cofundador, Andrej Karpathy, saiu em fevereiro e lançou uma startup educacional. A OpenAI também contratou recentemente seu primeiro CFO e um diretor de produtos, cuja chegada provavelmente impactou o papel de Deng.
A empresa, que vive uma transformação de organização sem fins lucrativos para uma corporação altamente lucrativa, está no meio do treinamento de seu próximo modelo principal.
Também lançou recentemente um mecanismo de busca e está trabalhando em um agente de IA que pode automatizar tarefas de computador para os clientes. Sinal de que, na OpenAI, as mudanças não devem parar tão cedo.
